Inspection and Testing
Electrical Testing in Lambourn Homes
The Which? Consumer group says on average four people a day are injured or killed fires related to electrical faults. They recommend every home should have a regular electrical safety test to ensure that the occupants and property are not casualties of an electrical fire. We are experienced Lambourn electricians who regularly see the potential risks of dangerous wiring and we fully support this recommendation.
The leading technical authority on electrical safety in the UK is the organisation Electrical Safety First and also advise that like elsewhere in the country private homeowners in Lambourn should get an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) from a qualified, reputable Lambourn electrical firm at least every 10 years. This is vital for your own safety and to protect your home. Some household insurance companies may refuse to pay out on an insurance claim if they feel any the damage occurred was the result of neglected electrical faults. You should also arrange an EICR in Lambourn if you are buying a property, whatever its age or condition to make sure the electrics are safe and the working.
Landlords in Lambourn have a legal responsibility to keep their tenants safe, and an EICR electrical test is required every five years, or when there is a change of tenancy.

What Happens when an EICR is Done?
When you call us to arrange an appointment for an EICR to be carried out at your Lambourn property you should be aware that the testing may take several hours depending on the size of the house to complete and there will be no power during this time.
Our electrical testing experts in Lambourn will perform a thorough check of all the fixed wiring in your home to ensure they are safe and compliant with regulations, and to find any potential issues.
The checks include not only wiring, but also the fuse board circuit breakers and Residual Current Devices, earthing and bonding arrangements, and other parts of your home’s electrical installation which are hidden from view.
The report is completed on site and then brought back to the office to be produced and signed by the electrician who carried out the testing.
If there are any electrical issues found they will be graded on the report as follows:
- C1 indicate an immediately dangerous situation and will have been dealt with straight away on site.
