Inspection and Testing
Why your Home in Inglesham Needs Electrical Testing
The Which? Consumer group says on average four people a day are killed or injured in fires related to electrical faults. Therefore, they recommend every home should have a regular electrical safety test – and being experienced Inglesham electricians who know the dangers we at Prestige Heating and Electrical Services support this recommendation.
The organisation Electrical Safety First – the leading technical authority on electrical safety in the UK – suggests that like elsewhere in the country private homeowners in Inglesham should get an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) from a qualified, reputable Inglesham electrical firm at least every 10 years. This is vital for your own safety and also a requirement by some insurance companies who may refuse to pay out a damage claim if they were the result of neglected electrical faults. You should also arrange an EICR in Inglesham if you are moving into or out of property, whatever its age or condition.
Landlords in Inglesham have a legal responsibility to keep their tenants safe, and an EICR electrical test is required every five years, or when there is a change of tenancy.

What Happens when an EICR is Done?
When you call us to arrange an appointment for an EICR to be carried out at your Inglesham property you should be aware that the testing may take several hours depending on the size of the house to complete and there will be no power during this time.
Our electrical testing experts in Inglesham will perform a thorough check of all the fixed wiring in your home to ensure they are safe and compliant with regulations, and to find any potential issues.
The checks include not only wiring, but also the fuse board circuit breakers and Residual Current Devices, earthing and bonding arrangements, and other parts of your home’s electrical installation which are hidden from view.
The report is completed on site and then brought back to the office to be produced and signed by the electrician who carried out the testing.
If there are any electrical issues found they will be graded on the report as follows:
- C1 indicate an immediately dangerous situation and will have been dealt with straight away on site.
- C2 faults mean potential danger with immediate work needed
- C3 faults mean improvement is recommended
- FI means further investigation is needed without delay
